Saying NO to dessert is really difficult .. especially if you are in Tuscany! Because it is impossible to give up to the typical Cantucci with Vin Santo!
Why is it called Vin Santo?
Santo in italian means “Holy”. Holy because used in church, or Holy because it was administered to plague patients in the 1300s to alleviate their suffering, the fact is that Vin Santo is truly a delight! Wine obtained mainly from dried grapes of Trebbiano and Malvasia, it can also be produced with grapes of Sangiovese, and in this case we speak of Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice .
Sweet wine that goes well with all dry pastries, it gives the best of itself in combination with the very Tuscan Cantucci, biscuits made with flour, eggs, sugar, almonds and butter, of which there are traces already since 1600, from the unmistakable oblique cut that makes them immediately recognizable and famous all over the world, perfect for soaking!
If you have never tasted them, or if you are greedy, our Taverna is the right place where you can always find them, strictly homemade, as well as all our desserts!
We are waiting for you!
